The Most Common Honda Repairs

Even the most reliable vehicles need repairs to keep them up to par. While we can take care of all the services and unique repairs your Honda might need, we’re glad to share the most commonly noticed repairs for that brand. For instance, some owners have reported brake wear sooner than expected. This is particularly true of the 2008 and 2009 Accord, with the cars needing brake pads and sometimes even rotor resurfacing at about 20,000 miles instead of the anticipated 70,000. Likewise, some CRV drivers complain of air conditioner failure. This is often traced back to a compressor issue that causes the AC to stop working or blow warm air. The 2007-2009 CRV may also exhibit problems with the driver’s door locking mechanism. In some of the SUVs, the door stops locking at all. In others, it cycles through endless rounds of locking and unlocking. Transmission trouble is another documented snag for some Honda models. The 1999-2004 Pilot, Accord, Odyssey, and Civic have many torque converter failures that led to the burned transmission fluid and gear shifting difficulties. This issue often manifests itself before the automobile reaches the 90,000-mile mark. Civics manufactured between 2006 and 2009 have shown an unexpected tendency for the engine block to crack. This prompted the manufacturer to extend the warranty for those models to 10 years to compensate for the issue. Furthermore, numerous reports of the airbag failing to deploy when needed in the 2008 Accord. (This is a separate issue from the massive Takata airbag recall that impacted multiple auto makes and millions of consumers worldwide.) Several Accord owners also have reported unusual vibration during braking. Across multiple models, the dashboard display sometimes gives out, growing dimmer until it’s not visible. Finally, the models with V6 engines made before 2014 are notorious for instances of excessive oil use.
